September Milestones For Flow Community And Development

In September, the Flow ecosystem made significant strides in developer adoption, support, and user engagement, including:

  • The Crescendo upgrade improved Flow
  • Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) keynote and panel discussions
  • Flow was the most built-on blockchain at ETHGlobal Singapore

The Crescendo Upgrade Improved Flow

The latest update to Flow (Crescendo) was the biggest upgrade to the network since genesis. It introduced full EVM equivalence and support for Solidity (any smart contract or protocol that works on Ethereum mainnet or an EVM L2 to work out of the box on Flow) alongside major performance upgrades (all future Cadence code is now forwards compatible — no updates required!).

Since upgrading to Crescendo, Flow has seen a block time of 0.8 seconds (the industry average is 6 seconds) and thousands of new smart contracts on the platform. The Chief Architect of Flow, Dieter Shirley, summarized the most upgrade’s milestones here.

KBW Keynote and IP for the Masses

At Korean Blockchain Week, Flow made waves at several high-profile panels and events. Roham Gharegozlou, CEO and Founder of Dapper Labs joined panels discussing the advancement of Intellectual Property (IP). During the forums, “Pathways to Digital IPs” and “Lovable IP: How Culture Onboards the Masses” Roham joined moderator Cassidy Huang and panelists including 9Gag and Memeland Founder and CEO Ray Chan, as well as Azuki COO, Steve Chung, and IPX CFO, Kay Lim. Roham and panel members discussed the importance of securing IP pathways in Web3, and how cultural relevance relates to mainstream adoption.

Jeff Doyle on the Flow Foundation Technical Product team, gave a keynote speech covering Flow and its position as the growing hub of Web3 consumer products.

Flow was the L1 of Choice at ETHGlobal Singapore

The Flow World Tour kicked off at ETHGlobal Singapore, where Flow was the Layer 1 blockchain of choice for builders. The network attracted 27% of hackathon participants, introducing hundreds of developers and over 50 new applications into the Flow ecosystem.

The builders with the Most Killer App Potential included:
